Contrasting and stylish, this Planet Ocean 600M combines the power of an orange ceramic bezel with the versatility of a black rubber strap. Slim, robust, and luminous, it proudly displays the iconic aesthetic of the collection since 2005.
A new generation celebrating the iconic orange DNA since 2005
Since its launch in 2005, the Planet Ocean has become one of the most recognizable dive watches in modern watchmaking… thanks to a bold chromatic signature: orange. A color rarely used in high-end horology, chosen by OMEGA for its underwater visibility but above all to assert a strong identity. From day one, the orange bezel became a symbol — a powerful stylistic marker instantly associated with the Planet Ocean and its performance-driven spirit.
To celebrate the collection’s 20th anniversary, OMEGA returns to this iconic shade with a fourth generation that reinvents everything: sharper case lines, a slimmer profile, a titanium internal architecture, and the removal of the helium escape valve. A profound transformation that propels the Planet Ocean into a new era while fully embracing its chromatic heritage.
In these orange versions, the watch reclaims its most expressive and emblematic identity. A “mini Ultra Deep” with flamboyant accents, designed for those who want a technical dive watch… with an unmistakable personality.
A powerful heritage, continually reinvented
Since its launch in 2005, the Planet Ocean has held a unique place within the Seamaster universe: a modern professional diver able to combine pure performance with a strong stylistic identity. Originally inspired by the design language of the 1960s Seamaster 300, it quickly established itself as a pillar of high-performance mechanical diving thanks to its 600-meter water resistance, Broad Arrow hands and instantly recognizable matte black dial.
Over the years, the Planet Ocean underwent three major evolutions before reaching this fourth generation.
– In 2005, the first series established the foundations: muscular design, helium valve, Arabic numerals, bold 600M identity.
– In 2011, OMEGA introduced ceramic, Liquidmetal technology and new-generation calibres, reinforcing the technical dimension of the collection.
– In 2016, the third generation brought Master Chronometer certification, better magnetic resistance and refined construction, while retaining a substantial silhouette.
With the 2025 generation, OMEGA carries out a far deeper transformation. The case becomes slimmer, the valve disappears, and the internal architecture is redesigned with a titanium ring inspired by the Ultra Deep. It is the first time the Planet Ocean revisits its very foundations — not just its details.
This evolution also draws on a broader heritage, echoing the angular aesthetics of the Seamaster Mayol 120M, SHOM and Baby Ploprof models from the 1970s to 1990s. The orange versions reconnect with the original vocation of the line: a readable, robust, uncompromising toolwatch, perfectly faithful to the Planet Ocean’s vision since its beginnings.
An entirely reimagined design
The fourth-generation Planet Ocean introduces a brand-new design language for the collection. The case now features far more angular lines, with sharp edges, contrasting surfaces and polished chamfers that catch the light beautifully. The usual curves give way to a more architectural, technical and resolutely contemporary silhouette.
The diameter returns to 42 mm, but the proportions are completely transformed: the thickness drops to just 13.79 mm — over two millimetres thinner than the previous generation. The sapphire crystal is now flat, reinforcing the visual impression of slimness. Beneath this redesigned structure, a titanium internal ring strengthens the case and guarantees 600-meter resistance without requiring the traditional helium valve.
The orange ceramic bezel receives significantly upgraded finishing: deeper knurling, better grip and a white hybrid ceramic dive scale whose contrast ensures instant legibility in all conditions. The mastery of this vivid, perfectly stabilized orange tone is a true technical achievement, paying tribute to the iconic color that has defined the Planet Ocean since 2005.
On the back, a Grade 5 titanium screw-down caseback replaces the sapphire display. Lighter, stronger and fully aligned with the model’s professional spirit, it helps reduce overall weight while preserving the toolwatch DNA that has shaped the Planet Ocean for two decades.
A dial designed for absolute legibility
The dial preserves the Planet Ocean’s original DNA while adopting a more modern execution in harmony with the angular aesthetics of the new case. Fully matte, it suppresses unwanted reflections and ensures immediate legibility even in the most demanding conditions.
The applied rhodium-plated indexes, sharply faceted, offer greater presence and precision. They are filled with Super-LumiNova for powerful and long-lasting luminosity. The Broad Arrow hands — a hallmark of the collection — retain their iconic silhouette, optimised for intuitive reading.
The Arabic numerals — here presented in matte orange to match the bezel — adopt a new, squarer and more dynamic typography, with openworked “6” and “9.” This design choice adds modernity, energy and visual coherence while subtly recalling the very first Planet Ocean models.
Underwater or in darkness, reading is instinctive: the bi-color luminescence system instantly separates essential dive information, with the indexes and hour hand glowing blue, while the minute hand and bezel pip shine green — a functional, diver-focused approach.
Finally, the absence of a date window reinforces the dial’s overall balance and brings the focus back to pure functionality, faithful to the spirit of a true instrument watch.
A Master Chronometer movement built to last
At the heart of this fourth generation beats the calibre 8912, one of the most advanced movements created by OMEGA. Used in the Ultra Deep family, it embodies the mechanical robustness and extreme precision expected from the brand’s professional instruments.
This automatic movement is built around a double-barrel architecture delivering a 60-hour power reserve with stable, even energy distribution. Its frequency of 25,200 vph, combined with the famous three-level Co-Axial escapement, ensures remarkable reliability and long-term performance.
Fully certified Master Chronometer by METAS, it meets the industry’s most demanding standards:
– Magnetic resistance up to 15,000 gauss
– Exceptionally strict accuracy, even in real-world conditions
– Zero tolerance for performance deviation
The Si14 silicon balance spring and free-sprung balance enhance shock resistance, while the Time Zone function allows independent hour adjustment — a practical feature for travel. More than just efficient, this calibre is engineered to accompany the watch everywhere, from urban life to extreme environments.
Even hidden behind the titanium caseback, its finishing remains exemplary: arabesque-wave bridges, rhodium-plated rotor and blackened screws showcase OMEGA’s craftsmanship.
A sportier, lighter and perfectly integrated rubber version
Fitted with a black rubber strap, this Planet Ocean reveals an even sportier and more versatile character. The strap integrates seamlessly with the case thanks to stainless steel end-links designed to follow the watch’s new angular geometry. This construction creates a strong sense of visual unity and enhances the model’s presence on the wrist.
The rubber features a technical pattern and a dual-texture finish, echoing classic dive-watch codes while ensuring excellent comfort. Soft, pleasant to wear and perfectly stable, it naturally follows the wrist’s movements. The secure folding clasp guarantees flawless support and is ideally suited for everyday use.
Together, these elements give the watch a lighter, more dynamic profile — clearly built for action.
The ultimate expression of Planet Ocean DNA
With this fourth generation, OMEGA delivers the boldest evolution of the Planet Ocean since its creation. Sharper, more compact and built around a completely re-engineered titanium inner structure — now without a helium valve — it stands as a true professional diver designed to last and made to be worn everywhere, from daily life to the most demanding environments.
In their orange versions, these new Planet Ocean models reconnect with what defined the collection in 2005: a strong personality, instantly recognizable, built around a chromatic accent that has become iconic. Balancing heritage and modernity, they embody the very essence of the Planet Ocean: technical, expressive, professional… and unmistakably OMEGA.
A genuine instrument watch, elevated by a signature aesthetic. A major milestone for one of the most emblematic dive watches of the 21st century — and likely the boldest ever created by the manufacture.
