The story

Born in 1963 under the vision of Jack Heuer, the Carrera collection pays tribute to the legendary Carrera Panamericana car race, celebrating precision and performance. A true pillar of TAG Heuer’s catalogue, it has embodied for over half a century the meeting of sleek design and mechanical spirit.

In 2015, the brand opened a new chapter in its history by unveiling the Carrera Heuer 01, the first model in a new generation of chronographs powered by an in-house movement. A symbol of the revival led by Jean-Claude Biver, this watch marked a bold break: a new design, a 12-part modular construction, a skeletonized dial, and a manufacture calibre visible from both sides.

The year 2016 saw the birth of the “Grey Phantom” version, crafted entirely in titanium — a light, strong, and hypoallergenic material chosen for its modernity and comfort. Monochrome, architectural, and resolutely contemporary, this Carrera reinvents the brand’s DNA in a futuristic interpretation, true to its motto: Avant-Garde Since 1860.

The model

A lighter, more streamlined take on the Heuer 01 line, the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 ref. CAR2A8A.FT6072 retains the collection’s signature aesthetic in a more compact 43 mm format. Its sandblasted titanium case, both light and durable, offers a confident presence without ever feeling heavy. Alternating brushed and bead-blasted finishes enhance contrast and highlight the sharp lines of this modular architecture — a hallmark of the modern Carrera.

The skeletonized dial reveals impressive depth: openworked bridges and discs expose the chronograph’s inner workings, the red column wheel, and the partially visible date disc. Rhodium-plated applied indexes and luminous hands ensure perfect legibility, even amidst this mechanical display. Protected by a domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating, the ensemble embodies the technical precision and dynamic spirit of the Carrera universe.

In terms of display, the watch offers a clear and balanced reading:

• 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock,
• 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock,
• Small seconds at 9 o’clock,
• and skeletonized date at 3:30.

The subdials, outlined in brushed metal, create a subtle play of depth and light, enhancing readability — a signature of TAG Heuer’s racing chronographs.

Inside beats the in-house Heuer 01 calibre, an evolution of the Calibre 1887. This automatic chronograph operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a 50-hour power reserve. Visible through the sapphire caseback, it features a black skeletonized rotor and meticulous finishing — hallmarks of TAG Heuer’s technical mastery.

The model is presented here on a brown leather strap with beige stitching, lined with rubber for optimal comfort, and fitted with a titanium folding clasp with safety push-buttons. The result is a watch that exudes both sportiness and urban sophistication, true to the brand’s avant-garde spirit.

The package

This TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 ref. CAR2A8A.FT6072 is presented in excellent overall condition, following a complete service in our workshops. The watch has undergone a thorough movement inspection, a water-resistance test, and careful polishing and satin finishing, ensuring optimal performance and restored brilliance.
It comes with its original TAG Heuer box (showing minor signs of wear) and its warranty card dated 2022.
