With the Presage Classic SPB529, Seiko enriches its Classic line with a warmer and even more refined interpretation. Produced in a limited edition of 3,000 pieces, this reference embodies the subtle balance between traditional Japanese aesthetics and modern watchmaking expertise.

Its name refers to the “Shiracha” shade, a delicate brown inspired by tones favored by tea masters at the end of the Edo period. This chromatic choice gives the watch a singular depth, poised between discreet sophistication and vintage charm.

True to the Presage spirit, the SPB529 combines timeless design, a high-performance in-house movement and meticulous finishing. Yet it also stands out for a contemporary dimension: a recycled leather strap developed in partnership with Japanese shoemaker Regal. A first within the Classic collection, introducing a responsible approach without ever compromising elegance.

A “Shiracha” Dial with Deep Nuances

The dial of the Seiko Presage Classic SPB529 is unquestionably the centerpiece of this limited edition. Inspired by Shiracha, a subtly pearlescent light brown appreciated during the Edo period, it evokes the delicacy of infused tea and the muted aesthetics of traditional Japanese arts.

Its smoky gradient finish delivers remarkable depth: lighter at the center and gradually intensifying toward the edges, creating an elegant vignette effect that captures light with softness. This interplay of tones gives the dial a warm, almost organic presence—far removed from flat or uniform browns.

Gold-toned applied indexes and polished hands enhance this sense of refinement. Their brightness contrasts subtly with the brown background, ensuring excellent legibility while emphasizing the watch’s dress-oriented character. The slender central seconds hand adds a discreet touch of dynamism.

At 3 o’clock, the beveled date window integrates harmoniously without disturbing the dial’s balance. Unlike the 36 mm no-date versions, the complication is fully embraced here, reinforcing the model’s more versatile positioning.

The entire display is protected by a double-curved sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating, softening glare and amplifying the perception of depth. With its 13 mm thickness and 46 mm lug-to-lug length, the watch retains a confident presence while remaining balanced. Thanks to the rounded case flanks and double-curved sapphire crystal, it appears visually slimmer than its dimensions suggest. It does not merely sit on the wrist—it settles into it.

The mirror-polished finishing enhances the model’s dress character. Surfaces capture light subtly and without aggressiveness. This is controlled elegance, not ostentation.

The true distinctive detail, however, lies between the dial and the case: the brown-gold fluted intermediate bezel ring.

This lower coin-edge–finished ring features a brown-gold ion-plated coating, creating a direct chromatic link with the Shiracha dial and gold indexes.

The SPB529 stands out not only for its dial and bezel, but also for introducing a new dimension to the Presage Classic collection: a strap crafted from recycled leather, developed in partnership with Japanese shoemaker REGAL Shoe & Co.

REGAL, a historic Japanese footwear house, works with premium leathers to produce its iconic loafers. During the cutting process, certain leather offcuts—despite being of impeccable quality—remain unused. It is precisely this noble material that Seiko repurposes here.

The reddish-brown strap features:

• a refined natural grain
• immediate suppleness on the wrist
• light beige stitching reminiscent of traditional artisanal shoemaking finishes

The result is perfectly aligned with the Shiracha spirit: warm, refined and thoughtfully executed. This is not a superficial marketing gesture, but a coherent aesthetic and ethical approach.

It is secured by a triple folding clasp with push-buttons.

The 6R55 Calibre

At the heart of this Seiko Presage Classic beats the in-house 6R55 calibre, a modern evolution of the 6R family, designed to deliver enhanced autonomy and everyday reliability.

This automatic movement, assembled internally by Seiko, operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and incorporates 24 jewels. It offers a comfortable 72-hour power reserve—three full days of autonomy—an important advantage for a watch intended to accompany a modern lifestyle. Set aside on Friday evening, it remains ready to wear on Monday morning.

The 6R55 also provides:

• Manual winding capability
• Stop-seconds (hacking) function for precise time-setting
• Date display at 3 o’clock

Seiko specifies an accuracy range of +25 / -15 seconds per day, consistent with its accessible in-house positioning.

Visible through the screw-down transparent caseback, the movement reveals its gold-toned rotor, a discreet reminder of the attention given to mechanical details.
