With the revival of the DEFY collection initiated in 2017, ZENITH has affirmed a vision resolutely focused on the future. A true creative laboratory for the Manufacture, DEFY explores new watchmaking paths by combining mechanical innovation, contemporary materials, and architectural design, while remaining deeply rooted in the Maison’s heritage.

The DEFY Skyline 36 mm fully embraces this approach. It reprises the strong aesthetic codes of the Skyline—angular geometry, faceted bezel, and star-patterned dial—within a more compact and versatile format, designed to suit a wide variety of wrists and styles. A more universal interpretation of DEFY DNA, where modernity, elegance, and everyday wear find a natural balance.

New proportions – DEFY architecture with refined elegance

With its 36 mm steel case, the DEFY Skyline adopts more restrained proportions without sacrificing character. The octagonal case middle and dodecagonal bezel retain the collection’s strong graphic identity, directly inspired by the DEFY A3642 of 1969. Crisp lines, pronounced facets, and finishes alternating between satin-brushed surfaces and polished chamfers give the watch a confident presence despite its more discreet diameter.

The sunburst silver dial offers a refined and luminous interpretation of the Skyline. It is decorated with the engraved four-pointed star motif, a contemporary reinterpretation of ZENITH’s historic “Double Z” logo. Applied hour markers and faceted hands, coated with luminescent material, ensure optimal legibility, while the date window at 3 o’clock—perfectly integrated—reinforces the overall visual balance.

Elite 670 caliber – Precision and reliability for everyday wear

To power the DEFY Skyline 36 mm, ZENITH has chosen the in-house automatic Elite 670 caliber, perfectly suited to this more compact format. A true pillar of the Maison for more than twenty-five years, the Elite caliber embodies a watchmaking approach focused on slimness, reliability, and long-term durability.

Operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), this automatic movement offers a power reserve of 50 hours and displays hours, minutes, central seconds, and date. Visible through a sapphire caseback, it reveals an openworked oscillating weight in the shape of a star—ZENITH’s signature—highlighting the attention paid to finishing and the overall aesthetic coherence.

Designed to accompany all lifestyles, the DEFY Skyline 36 mm is fitted with an integrated steel bracelet, whose natural drape and refined finishes contribute fully to wearing comfort. Satin-brushed surfaces and polished chamfered edges elegantly extend the architecture of the case.

Decidedly versatile, the watch is also equipped with an ingenious tool-free quick-change strap system, allowing the steel bracelet to be replaced in just a few seconds with the supplied black rubber strap featuring a star motif. Combined with water resistance to 10 ATM (100 meters) and a screw-down crown, the DEFY Skyline 36 mm thus brings together contemporary elegance, robustness, and functionality—faithful to the DEFY spirit for more than fifty years.
