The Reverso, one of the most instantly recognizable creations in watchmaking, was born in 1931 to meet a challenge: to design a wristwatch capable of withstanding the impacts of polo matches. A rare example of a design equally suited to both men and women, it quickly won the hearts of personalities from all walks of life. Over the course of nine decades, it has evolved far beyond its original role as a sports watch, adopting new proportions and a variety of dial styles, while remaining true to its original identity.
In 2016, to mark the 85th anniversary of this icon, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced the Reverso Tribute line, reinterpreting the stylistic codes of the original 1931 model with contemporary elegance.

A Deep Hue, Symbol of Elegance

In this Tribute Monoface Small Seconds Q397843J version, the Reverso is adorned with a sumptuous sunray-brushed green dial, a shade inspired by the forests of the Vallée de Joux where the heart of the Manufacture beats. Its shifting reflections add depth and character, while the applied trapezoidal indexes and polished Dauphine hands recall the timeless elegance of its predecessors.
The stainless steel case measuring 45.6 × 27.4 mm retains the harmonious silhouette and rectangular geometry that define the Reverso. Its clean lines are punctuated by the emblematic horizontal gadroons, and its tapered lugs integrate seamlessly with the strap. As always, the solid caseback offers a blank canvas for engraving, inviting personalization.

An Artisanal Strap by Casa Fagliano

To dress this timepiece, Jaeger-LeCoultre has partnered with the prestigious Argentine bootmaker Casa Fagliano, whose leathers have accompanied the polo world for decades. The green calf leather strap, specially designed for the Tribute line, features a subtle grain and exceptional comfort. Thanks to the interchangeable strap system developed by the Maison, it can be swapped in moments for another strap, allowing the watch to adapt to any occasion.

A Heart Shaped for Its Case

True to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s philosophy that a movement’s shape should follow that of its case, this Reverso Tribute Monoface Small Seconds is powered by the hand-wound Manufacture calibre 822/2. This tonneau-shaped movement, perfectly adapted to the rectangular case, comprises 108 components and measures just 2.94 mm thick. It offers a power reserve of approximately 45 hours and stands out for its exemplary finishing, including the distinctive bridge found on calibres from the Vallée de Joux, with its “revolver” silhouette and sunray decoration.
