18k white gold (750 gold): what is it?
18k white gold (750 gold) is the finest quality of gold that can be found in jewellery. This designation means that the gold that shapes the jewel is an alloy composed of 75% pure gold, and 25% other precious metals (such as copper, silver or even palladium). Pure gold cannot be used alone to make jewellery, as it is too malleable. In order to make it strong and workable, it is therefore combined with other metals. White gold is also called "white gold" because of its colour when not yet rhodium plated. In order to display such a beautiful shine, white gold is rhodium plated, i.e. coated with a thin layer of rhodium, a very rare and precious metal. In order for your jewel to keep its whiteness, as it will naturally develop a patina over time, we advise you to maintain it by having it rhodium plated approximately every two years. In order to know the quality of the gold in which your jewel is made, you can check the hallmarks that have been stamped on the piece. The first type of hallmark is the so-called guarantee or title hallmark. The Eagle's head hallmark guarantees a gold grade of 750 thousandths, while the hallmark representing a scallop shell identifies jewellery made of 585 thousandths gold (which formerly corresponded to the denomination "14k"), and the trefoil-shaped hallmark concerns jewellery made of 375 thousandths gold (or formerly "9k"). These official authentication hallmarks are accompanied by the master hallmark, which is that of the jeweller who made the piece, attesting to the provenance and quality of the jewellery.
White gold jewellery, timeless pieces
In jewellery, white gold has the power to bring out the colour of precious stones and the brilliance of diamonds beautifully. Used to make the most prestigious pieces of jewellery, white gold is a safe bet, timeless and unchanging through the ages. Classic or daring, white gold jewellery takes many forms! With a traditional or ultra-modern design, made entirely of gold, adorned with precious stones or diamonds, rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings, the white gold jewels in this selection are creations signed by Lepage, or by the greatest jewellery brands: dinh van, Dior Joaillerie, Messika, La Brune et La Blonde, Boucheron, So Shocking...
Bringing light thanks to its whiteness, white gold is a precious material that can be easily combined and worn with everything, for every day as well as for the most special occasions. Particularly suitable for a piece of jewellery that will be worn on a daily basis, white gold is a very resistant, rustproof metal that harmonises wonderfully with all colours of stones!
