The First Daytona with a Ceramic Bezel

Reference 116515LN introduced a major innovation to the Daytona collection: ceramic. First unveiled in 2011 on this Everose gold model, the material was used for the tachymeter bezel. As with every Rolex innovation, this development brought genuine technical benefits. The monobloc Cerachrom bezel, crafted from high-tech ceramic, offers exceptional durability: it is virtually scratchproof, highly resistant to UV rays, and impervious to corrosion. Complementing this extreme resilience is the outstanding legibility of the tachymeter scale, whose graduations are engraved into the bezel and then coated via a PVD process with a thin layer of platinum or gold.

A Manufacture Chronograph Calibre

This Daytona is powered by the calibre 4130, a self-winding mechanical chronograph movement featuring a column wheel and vertical clutch, entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. Introduced on March 23, 2000, at Baselworld, this calibre ushered in a new era for the Daytona collection.

Like all Rolex Perpetual movements, the calibre 4130 is COSC-certified. At its heart lies the patented blue Parachrom hairspring, developed and manufactured by Rolex from an exclusive alloy. Completely insensitive to magnetic fields, this hairspring offers exceptional stability in the face of temperature variations and is up to ten times more precise than a traditional hairspring in the event of shocks. Furthermore, its architecture incorporates fewer components than a conventional chronograph movement, enhancing overall reliability.
