With the Seamaster 300 “Spectre,” OMEGA has created one of the most accurate incarnations of the 007 legend: a field tool watch, elegant without being ostentatious, delivered on its iconic NATO strap, designed for action and produced in a limited edition of 7,007 pieces. With its military heritage, Seamaster DNA, and cinematic aura, this “Bond Watch” has already become legendary.

The story

For more than sixty years, James Bond and watchmaking have shared a relationship as close as it is symbolic. As early as 1962, in Dr. No, Sean Connery appeared on screen wearing a Rolex Submariner, establishing a visual language that would forever define Agent 007: a robust, highly legible watch, built for action and devoid of ostentation. Bond’s watch is never jewellery, but a tool — an extension of the man and his mission.

In 1995, with GoldenEye, a new chapter began. OMEGA became the official watch partner of the saga, and the Seamaster naturally emerged as James Bond’s watch. Its naval heritage, functional aesthetics, and British roots aligned perfectly with the character, an officer of the Royal Navy. Since then, the Seamaster has accompanied 007 on screen, film after film, becoming inseparable from his modern identity.

In 2015, with Spectre, OMEGA took an unprecedented step. For the first time in the history of the franchise, the exact watch worn by James Bond on screen was made available to the public in a strictly identical, limited and numbered edition. The Seamaster 300 “Spectre” is not a commemorative variation — it is James Bond’s personal watch, worn by Daniel Craig throughout the film.

Based on the Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial relaunched in 2014 — itself a modern reinterpretation of the legendary CK2913 from 1957 — this special edition draws equally from OMEGA’s military history and Bond’s cinematic DNA. The bidirectional 12-hour bezel, the “lollipop” seconds hand and the grey-and-black striped NATO strap all reference military tool watches, while also echoing the earliest watches worn by Bond on screen.

Produced in 7,007 pieces, a direct nod to the famous secret agent’s code number, the Seamaster 300 “Spectre” immediately established itself as something truly distinct. Neither ostentatious nor gimmicky, it embodies a rare and coherent vision of a movie watch: credible, functional, and deeply connected to the character it accompanies.

At the crossroads of the Bond myth, military history and high-level modern watchmaking, the Seamaster 300 “Spectre” is today regarded as one of the most accomplished and desirable James Bond watches ever produced by OMEGA — a timepiece already fully aware of its place in legend.

The model

The Seamaster 300 “Spectre” ref. 233.32.41.21.01.001 is based on the Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial launched by OMEGA in 2014, itself inspired by the iconic CK2913 of 1957. Its historical design codes are immediately recognisable: a 41 mm stainless steel case, straight lugs, a large unprotected crown and a deliberately utilitarian construction, designed for function before aesthetics.

The case alternates polished and brushed surfaces with great restraint, offering a strong wrist presence without excess. Water resistance is rated to 300 metres, reminding us that despite its cinematic status, this Seamaster remains first and foremost a true professional diving watch.

The bezel is one of the defining features of the “Spectre” edition. Unlike the standard Seamaster 300, OMEGA opted here for a bidirectional 12-hour bezel, crafted in polished black ceramic with a Liquidmetal® scale. More akin to a simplified GMT function than a traditional dive bezel, this choice fits perfectly within James Bond’s universe, allowing quick reading of a second time zone — an essential tool for an agent operating on a global scale.

The matte black dial, subtly textured, prioritises absolute legibility. The recessed triangular indexes and numerals are filled with “vintage” Super-LumiNova, emitting a bluish glow and deliberately evoking a retro aesthetic. The Broad Arrow hands, inherited from 1950s military Seamasters, reinforce this historical lineage. The central seconds hand adopts a “lollipop” design, a direct nod to certain vintage military Seamasters and a highly sought-after detail among collectors.

No date aperture disrupts the balance of the dial — a choice fully aligned with the tool-watch philosophy of the model. At 6 o’clock, the discreet “Master Co-Axial Chronometer” inscription subtly highlights the technical level of the movement without compromising readability.

The sapphire caseback reveals the OMEGA calibre 8400, an in-house automatic movement featuring the Co-Axial escapement. Equipped with twin barrels, it offers a comfortable power reserve of approximately 60 hours and, above all, exceptional resistance to magnetic fields exceeding 15,000 gauss, achieved through extensive use of non-ferrous materials including a silicon balance spring. COSC-certified, this calibre perfectly illustrates OMEGA’s modern approach: addressing technical challenges at the heart of the movement rather than relying on protective shielding.

In terms of straps, the Seamaster 300 “Spectre” is delivered with its iconic grey-and-black five-stripe NATO strap, instantly associated with the James Bond universe. The watch is also supplied with its fully brushed stainless steel bracelet, developed specifically for this limited edition. Unlike the standard Seamaster 300 bracelet, this version features an entirely satin-brushed finish, reinforcing its utilitarian character and tool-watch spirit. The folding clasp is engraved with the “007” code number — a detail often overlooked but essential, making this bracelet truly specific to the Spectre edition and particularly sought after today.

Ultimately, the Seamaster 300 “Spectre” succeeds in a delicate balancing act: being an instantly recognisable movie watch without ever sacrificing its horological credibility. Neither a gimmick nor a mere promotional object, it stands as a genuine modern tool watch, enriched with a cinematic soul that now makes it a major piece for OMEGA enthusiasts, military watch collectors and fans of the James Bond universe alike.
