The Story

First studied in 1962, the Memovox Polaris was produced between 1965 and 1970 in just 1,714 pieces. Depending on the market, it was fitted with different dial and hand variations. Tiny differences in numerals, indexes, and signatures now fuel the passion of the most dedicated collectors. In 2008, Jaeger-LeCoultre decided to pay tribute to this legendary model by creating an exceptionally faithful re-edition: the Memovox “Tribute to Polaris” limited edition. A reference that closely mirrors the original 1968 Memovox Polaris, launched forty years earlier.

In 2018, Jaeger-LeCoultre revived the historic Polaris name with the introduction of a brand-new line of watches at SIHH 2018. This collection highlighted the manufacture’s heritage in the field of dive watches. Since then, it has expanded with several new references. In 2022, the brand further evolved the model, introducing a sapphire crystal caseback and extending the power reserve to 70 hours!

Key Facts

Much to the delight of collectors and enthusiasts of the iconic Polaris, the Polaris Date faithfully reproduces the 1968 model, showcasing its signature details: vanilla-toned Super-LumiNova™* that pays homage to vintage tritium, the mix of triangle and trapezoidal indexes with four Arabic numerals, a railroad-style minute track… all complemented by a date window at 3 o’clock.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date comes with the maison’s signature polished and brushed case, along with the two characteristic crowns of the collection—one to set the time, the other to operate the internal rotating bezel. It is fitted on a rubber strap decorated with the Clous de Paris motif, specially designed for this line. A domed crystal crowns the watch, once again evoking its vintage inspiration.

Inside beats the calibre 899/1, a manufacture automatic movement just 4.65 mm thick, delivering a power reserve of 70 hours.

This 2023 “Polaris Date” comes Full Set with its box, papers, and documentation. In excellent condition, the watch has been checked by our watchmakers and comes with a Jaeger-LeCoultre warranty valid until 2031.
